Long Skirts, Warm Layers
A long skirt does not have to wait for a special occasion. Add a familiar knit, shoes you can walk in and a warm outer layer, and it earns a place in the everyday wardrobe.
Our 18 October posts on Instagram and Facebook paired a wool bomber with a long skirt. Here is how we would carry that layering idea into pieces from the European shop.
Start with the skirt
The long plaid wool skirt has a smooth lining and enough pattern to give a plain top some character. In our shop photograph, a purple knit and pink bag make the checks feel playful. You could keep the same skirt quieter with a grey or cream top.
Choose the length and size from the measurements on the product page. A long skirt should work with the shoes you actually wear, whether those are boots or trainers.
Give each layer a job
A knit brings softness. A jacket gives the outfit shape. If you prefer another layer between them, the milky wool vest can be worn over a shirt or dress and under a coat.
For a warmer neutral, the sand-melange wool jacket has a stand collar and smooth lining. Try it with pieces you already own before adding more colour or pattern.
Keep something familiar
Your usual bag, a worn-in pair of boots or a scarf you reach for every autumn will make the outfit feel like yours. The pleasure is in finding a new combination, not replacing the whole wardrobe.
